Comics Should Be Good NYCC Meet Up!

This Saturday night, when the con is through, and before everyone heads off to the parties, why not come by and have dinner with the New York contingent of Comics Should Be Good? Okay, it's just me, but not JUST me! Me, Mordechai (from What WERE They Thinking?), Michael (from Tales to Mildly Astonish), plus other online comic fans that you all may or may not know. This Saturday at 8pm at Heartland Brewery (it is at the bottom of the Empire State Building, which is on 34th Street, which is the same street that New York Comic Con is being held on!! Okay...a few avenues over, but still, the same street!!!). Just drop me a line here, or send me an e-mail (cronb01@aol.com, natch) so I can keep the nice folks at Heartland Brewery abreast of how many people they should be expecting. Or, in the alternative, just stop by Heartland Brewery at 8pm and say you're there with the "Brian Cronin" party.

You said "a breast"

Seriously thought, we still doing Heartland? It's not as close to Javits as you think. I could look up a Kosher joint nearby, if we get a wide selection of Heebs.

Yeah, I know it's not THAT close, but it's also at 8:00 PM, which gives folks plenty of time to get crosstown.

And the set-up works so well for stuff like this.

Speaking as a Manhattanite who's had to give these sort of directions to non-natives for years, it's a healthy walk from Javits to the Heartland...but not at all unreasonable and certainly more straightforward to reach than many other destinations. 34th Street is the major cross street just south of the front exit from Javits; turn right as you leave and you can't miss it. Then you just walk straight along it, crossing Tenth Avenue, Ninth Avenue, Eighth Avenue, Seventh Avenue (at which point you're passing Macy's on the left and Madison Square Garden on the right), Sixth Avenue (Herald Square sits at the intersection of Sixth Ave and Broadway and 34th Street), and finally the Empire State Building is at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue.

Note: Doc Savage does not drink at the Heartland so do not be disappointed if you don't see him there. On the other hand, the convention site is built on top of where he used to keep all his boats and planes and submarines...which may explain why the Javits Center looks and feels exactly like an airport terminal, though without the charm or friendliness of the latter.

King Kong? But that was fiction.

I'll be available to give directions to visitors all weekend...

could you do this kinda thing for Chicago Wizard World? I'd love to see somebody do that there (probally the only con I'll attend this year) so even if you're not going, could you encourage somebody to do that...?

Tadhg is going there, I believe.

He has been trying to get me to go, too, so who knows. There is a chance!
