Looking Forward in 2005

What comic books are you looking forward to most in 2005?

Other than Morrison/Quitely on Superman, of course.

I'm really looking forward to the re-launches of RUNAWAYS and SHE-HULK from Marvel, just because I think these are two of the best series that publisher has released in ages, and I'm happy their getting a bigger push. The second volume of SCOTT PILGRIM can't come soon enough, for my tastes.

I'm looking forward to Seven Soldiers, which may just become the majority of my singles superhero purchases. Vaughan's Pride: The Lions of Baghdad, which is the next Vertigo talking animals book. BKV's recent output and We3 have really got me primed for that. Catching up on Carla Speed McNeil's Finder. I'll second the She-Hulk relaunch as well.

(and Morrison/Quitely on Superman)

Blast you, Mark!

A flagrant violation of the no-Morrison/Quitely rule!

Hehe

And darnit...of course, Seven Soldiers. Heck, we could even add in We3 #3, right?

Definitely Runaways. Todd Nauck has promised more Wildguard in '05, so that too. Continued goodness on ASM. Hoping against hope for continuations of Fallen Angel and MadroX. Can't think of much else at the moment.

Bah...you're all too mainstream.

Project: Superior is definitely #1 on my list. After that Owly Vol. 2, A Strange Day, and Usagi Yojimbo Vol. 19 are not far behind. The Bizarro World Anthology is the best thing coming out from DC, I think, although I must say a Morrison/Stewart project sounds tasty.

Other stuff...Lyrical Whales, Skyscrapers of the Midwest #2, From the Curve Vol. 2 #1, Process Recess, Scott Pilgrim Vol. 2, oh, and Max Estes's debut book...Hello, Again. Estes really impressed me more than anyone in TELSTAR, so I'm looking forward to that one. And, Temporary #2, of course. And Sorrel by Justin Madson (Happy Town).

Eliot is correct.

I will now self-flagellate myself.

Hehe.

Seriously, though, Eliot, it's a good point...but I think it has more to do with the mainstream guys being more open about what they have planned throughout 2005, ya know?

Yeah, the indie guys don't exactly work the hype machine (and that's a good thing). If I knew it was coming, I'd be most looking forward to a new Acme, Eightball, or Optic Nerve.

As it is, Seven Soldiers takes the cake.

Heh.

Yeah...I'm not sure if it's "more open" so much as "more certain" (and by extension, more open).

I'm unintentionally giving John Byrne a lot of attention today, but his run with Gail Simone on Action Comics is a source of joy for me. That's more about Gail than John though. I'm also looking forward to Seven Soldiers of Victory (and yes, All Star Superman).

The previews I've seen for the new Red Sonja book look pretty darn good and Mike Carey writing makes it all the more exciting. If they can emulate any of the excitement that Dark Horse has going on with Conan, this is gonna be good.

Steve Niles and Thomas Jane's Bad Planet also sounds very groovy.
