Infinite Crisis Question

So, I'm reading this week's Aquaman, and it mentions that Aquaman's son AND "foster son" died during Infinite Crisis.

"Foster son" has got to mean Tempest, right?

So is Tempest dead?

Unless Aquaman has some other foster son, then yeah. Then again, I don't recall any specific scene where it looked like Tempest bought it.

Did the Spectre not step on him and a bunch of other Atlanteans at the start of IC #3?

Tempest and Sub Diego were crushed by Spectre in Infinite Crisis #3.

Oh, yeah, *that* bit.

Funny how Superboy gets a statue *and* a cult, and Garth doesn't get squat.

Who's the guy standing next to Guy Gardner in the back row on the cover of Jusice League #1 in the new solicitations?

Yeah, and back when Donna Troy died most recently, Donna got a big funeral and sobbing Titans all around. Meanwhile, Lilith takes a plasma shot to the chest and dies incidental to the whole battle and no on really cared. AND we all knew that Donna was coming back anyway, meanwhile Lilith is gone "for good" (i.e. until someone decides to bring her back).

Sucks to be an "incidental character" in the Titans doesn't it? Almost as bad as being a former member of Infinity Inc, really.

Erm, I haven't read Aquaman yet, but Garth, his wife, and son/daughter were missing at the end of IC, not confirmed dead.

Btw, Garth's been dead before, and recently too. He was skeletonized just before becoming Tempest and atomized in an exploding Rocket Red suit in DC 1,000,000.

But yeah, where's the bust of the Rolling Head of Pantha?

I just reread DC 1,000,000 yesterday, oddly enough. Garth survives by using the ice at high altitude to crack the suit, but then blacks out and falls to the Atlantic below. (Which means it was a huge fall, unconscious. Maybe he used his water powers to make it extra soft to cushion his fall, I don't know.)
Even Garth has to admit he failed though, Montevideo was still toast. But if Aquaman loses his adopted son, on top of his two real sons, and his book? Kind of a kick while he's down.

Meh. Even if he's dead, he's not dead for long. Somewhere out there is a writer/artist who has Aqualad/Tempest as his/her "favorite character" and will be only too happy to bring him back once he/she gets onto a book to make it happen. In comics, there's a revolving door on the afterlife, after all, so even if he's "dead" it's only a matter of time...

Tempest was missing at the end of iC. Either, they finally found his body or he is still missing and is presumed dead. The only crachters that wer officially killed at the Spectre attqck were Vulko and Koryak. I know Busiek has said that he wants to use Garth. Still, if he is dead it really sucks to kill him mostly of panel.

Yeah, and it wasn't Aqualad's bones we saw, but a mystical mannequin swapped in at the last momment by Atlan.

I just meant it wasn't the first time Garth has been thought dead by characters in the story after an event he could never have survived, only to show up perfectly okay in a later issue.

At least this time they don't have to explain away Aqua-bones.
