What Were The Last Few Badass IDEAS That You've Seen In Comics?

Comics are more than just badass ideas.

You need to be able to write your badass idea well.

Therefore, a comic that may contain a badass idea does not automatically translate into a badass comic book.

It sure helps, though.

So what were the last few badass ideas that you have seen in comics (let's keep it to the last three months)?

Me?

Loeb has TWO of them! GASP!

1. Having Uncle Sam using Green Lantern's ring, and using the willpower of America (the basis of Uncle Sam) to power the ring. Totally badass idea.

2. Using the Lazarus Pit to revive the murdered Justice League. Seeing the zombie-like Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Aqauan rise from the Lazarus Pit was very badass indeed.

Those are the ones I was thinking of that got me started (and made me realize how badass ideas do not necessarily mean badass comics)..and they're the only ones that I can think of offhand.

So now it's your turn!

I think Savage Dragon punching Dubya was pretty badass (even though it wasn't really Dubya).

I think the Human bomb destroying the universe was tops in that bad ass issue of Superman/Batman.

Not a fan of the comic but I think Electro causing a massive prison break in New Avengers was pretty cool. Electro is kind of going through a bad ass phase right now.

Just the last three months?

Well, if we count stuff I've read, "The Big House" in She-Hulk was a pretty nifty idea. Lots of those in that series, actually.

Todd Nauck's Wildguard One-Shot had a notion I liked: A soap actress who tries to boost her career by buying a suit of armor so she can be a superhero, but ends up going into debt and having to rob banks to pay for it, while she's still working on the soap opera.

Colossal Boy as a giant whose power is to shrink to six feet tall makes me giddy as a schoolgirl.

I dunno what the hell the high concept behind "excelsior" in the new volume of Runaways is, but I love the lineup.

I also like the sci-fi concept in the background of the current ASM arc, where a scientist is trying to develop a skintight combat suit made of vibranium.

Wonder Woman blinding herself to fight Medusa. Furthermore, she blinds her self with the snakes on the gorgan's head. Also in WONDER WOMAN, the women of Olympus pulling a coup d'etat.

The villian in SUPERMAN. Movie nostaligia in #212, visual payoff in #213.

THE WALKING DEAD's move to the prison.

Not new, but new to me, the soul-capturing suits in THE COFFIN. And the "battling on multiple planes of reality" in the monostary in DEEP SLEEPER.

The Uncle Sam Green Lantern thing was a bad ass idea, but I think it's just a ripoff of Dragon Ball Z where Goku's Spirit Bomb is the ultimate weapon, powered by the wills and spirit of the people of earth.
