Remember what I said about the 90's Marvel gems?

Rock on, Rob Kirkman.

Okay, I recognize everybody except the blond woman in the white catsuit. Is that Dagger?

I have no clue. It looks like Dagger, but normally she'd be dragging Cloak along... And it could be Silver Sable, but the hair's the wrong color...

My secret hope is for Dakota North with a dye job.

Actually, wait; it could also be Dazzler. The pose is disco-y and her hand is sorta glowing.

Why's Booster Gold in there? Has he fled DC after rumbling that editorial had it in for ex-JLIers?

That's Speedball.

Kirkman is aces!

I don't see the NFL SuperPro.

I'm going to go crawl in a hole and cry, now.

That's Dagger. Don't you people read Runaways?

That's Terror, look back at the recent post on Hidden Gems of the 90s part 1, he's discussed in there.

Clockwise swirl from left to right,

Terror, I seriously can't believe someone didn't know this when there was an entry about him earlier.

Arana, I could have sworn this girl was a "zero" (what the hell are we supposed to call this decade?) hero.

Sleepwalker

Speedball

(?), I'm thinking X-23 but that only makes "some" kind of sense is Arana is an actual zero charactor. I only have the two blades on her hands to go by on this.

Darkhawk

Dagger, the light circle in her left hand gives this one away.

(?), once more I'm stumped.

I like the implication by Stephen that everyone reading this is up to date on previous entries as well.

Y'all better read all of Bill Reed's entries! He's like Geoff Johns! If you miss a previous one, you're totally lost!

Yep, those two are Arana and X-23. The guy in the blue and white is Gravity, from the recent mini-series.

I imagine that Arana and Gravity are in there because Kirkman likes them, and wishes for them to be more exposed.

I'm guessing that X-23 was an editorial mandate. Marvel's pushing her HARD.

So how long before this gets launched as "New Secret Defenders Fantastic Force Works"?

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!

I kid, I kid.

But, yeah, read my posts, dammit. :)

Not all the characters are necessarily from the 90's, just Sleepwalker, Terror, and Darkhawk. Speedball and Dagger are 80's, I believe, and the other kids are brand new. The whole theme is that these guys are all so lame that they won't make the history books. So, when villains from the future kidnaps all the famous heroes of today, the nobodies have to save the world.

And Kirkman said SuperPro was gonna appear, so he better be in it, dammit.

I like that idea very much. It sort of ties into something I was wondering today:

How can writers give lower-tier characters world-threat level enemies? I mean, if it's up to the New Warriors to save the Universe, then why don't they call the big-guns in?

And, if Spidey's taking a serious beating at the hands of Morlun, shouldn't he be able to ask for some help from his new teammates on THE AVENGERS?

Marvel's pushing X-23 hard because she's actually selling, as opposed to Arana. And Kirkman did a fine job with her eariler in the series, so that's okay with me.

I can't wait for this arc.

Daniel A: It's probably because he considers Morlun HIS fight, just like Iron Man wants to fight Mallon by himself instead of doing the Captain Sensible Thing as Mallon is walking across the highway punching the heads of goth chicks.

So which blog do we have to read to find out how his stories end?

By the by, Mike's Marvel comic strip is quite humorous, with really nice cartoony art.
