You Decide 2005 (April)

Things were delayed a bit in March, but I will be getting to all the comics that people picked in March. In fact, later tonight, expect an entry on Fred the Clown!

But for those of you who did not make a pick in March, here is my offer. You folks out there all pick a comic title that you think is good (let's try to keep it recent, unless it is an older story available in trade format), and I'll try to hunt down a couple of issues or a trade (no guarantees I'll find them, but I think I'll be able to do okay), read them, and put up an entry about it.

So a whole entry just on one comic that you think is cool...hopefully it will bring the attention of the two people who read this blog (plus the 8 other blog writers, so hey, that's nine possible new readers!!!).

Sound cool?

If so, then you decide!!

Oh, and Zack, if you're reading this, I just read your choices from later in March.

I'll get one of those titles!

I vote for Ultimates, the book that took a fresh approach to a team I was in the minority for liking back in college, and the book that got me buying comics again, at least in TPB form.

Sure, mcf...which trade would you like me to write about?

The first or the second?

Now that I'm on the blog, I can review things myself, so I don't really need to take part in this game anymore. That said, review Planetes volume 1. Just because I want to see the guy who made predictions about New Thunderbolts tackle some manga.

Also, while I have yet to read it, you should also review Epileptic by David B. Fill our art comics void too!

I've been waiting for you Good Comic Hunters to look out for some good comics from Europe, mainly, France, Belgium & the UK. I've posted over there thank's to your advice, but no respone so far. So here are my recommendations:

Modesty Blaise:
Created by Peter O'Donnell, about a lady thief and her partner turned secret agents for the English government.

Jane:
Created by Norman Pett. A pre-WW2 proto-Little Annie Fanny, about a girl who just can't keep her clothes on.

Garth:
Muscleman who can traverse time & space. Many prominent UK writers & artists got involved Peter O'Donnell. Sleeps with a lot women while kicking ass, not unlike James Bond.

Largo Winch:
Written by Jean Van Hamme and drawn by Philippe Francq. About a title character who suddenly inherits his father's fortune, and leadership of a corporation, as well as enemies....

Sillage:
Written by Jean-David Morvan & drawn by Phillipe Buchet, about an only human girl in the known universe adopted by a vast wandering alien community and becomes their agent & diplomat of sorts.

Franka:
Created by Henk Kuijper, about a namesake Dutch art theft investigator. Kinda like Tintin. Website: Franka.nl

Okay, Zack, sadly, Modesty Blaise was the only one available from Diamond, so that's the one I'm getting (Which stinks, as I would have preferred to do a piece on a less famous book).

Jed, Hopeless Savages is cool (sadly, A Distant Soil Vol.1 is not in print!!!)
