he inked him on gotham central, and he did pencils on seperate issues of that as well. He gives Lark a rough texturey(not a word) quality to his work, and blotches his shadows, which would otherwise be a lot more generic and neater looking style. I still prefer the flat colours to their work though.
"When we work together like that, I ink all of the main figures, and the important bits of the background. Stefano helps me out with the rest. It's a pretty flexible way of doing things - some pages or panels I ink everything, some he inks everything, some are 50/50. And everything in between. We learned early on in our run on Gotham Central that we seem to share the same brain, when it comes to art. This explains why I am so stupid."

I don't think it sounds like an odd arrangement at all... very interesting.
I wish more comics had a unique collaborative method; the most common division of labor is by no means natural. It's not like the Japanese or Europeans necessarily do things the same way as here.

ReplyDeleteI pefer Gaudiano's inks on Lark, he offers a stronger texture that's sometimes missing from Lark's self-inked work.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Lark himself,

Bill Angus
Thanks a ton, Bill!
ReplyDeleteThat seems like such an odd arrangement, though. Unless Marvel pays him as if he inked the whole book, in which case, it's a grand arrangement!

Anyway, Lark + Texture = Good
By odd, I mean, how does he make enough money if his only work is to ink SOME of a comic book?
