Might Spawn Actually Be GOOD?

That is the challenge that is awaiting upcoming Spawn writer, David Hine - to attempt to make Spawn interesting again (I say "again" because Morrison had a nice couple of issues on Spawn...hehe).

If you want to see if Hine is up to the challenge, check out this chat I modded the other week with Mr. Hine. Some interesting stuff in there, including a fun challenge by Mr. Hine -
What character made this speech in a Marvel comic: "I've been asked to speak to you today... to warn America about those who try to change our institutions... but in a pig's eye I'll warn you! This nation was founded by dissidents... by people who wanted something better! There's nothing sacred about the status quo and there never will be!"

Captain America?"

Gawd, I hope not...

Pretty sure that's Cap. I don't know why a quote like that would be surprising; Captain America's always defended activists and the right to dissent - even for damn dirty hippies! A shame, really. Now, Captain Nazi - there's a guy who'd put those mean ol' social undesirables in their place!

You know how Bill Reed wants to write Aquaman for free? That's how I feel about Captain America, especially after all those godawful post-70s arcs. My first arc would be about Cap going on college campuses and pummelling protesting hippies...haven't thought it out much beyond that, though...

I also want to write Cap. But they would never publish it; the CIA would probably assassinate me for it.

And it wouldn't even be that, well, out there, or anything. Just about Cap saving the country... politically... and beating up Zemo a lot. And dating a black woman. And running for president. And stuff.

Geez Louise! Stan Lee, a pinko! Who'da thunk?

Did he come to his senses and beat up some hippies by the end of the arc, though? That'd rock!

T., you would TOTALLY love Captain Nazi. He's very clean, nice crew cut, and he pummels hippies all the time!
