So confused by DC's trade program

Specifically, Why do we get a massive OWAW trade for not much more than a Showcase but the much superior New Frontier is too big for a single trade even when it clocks in at a hundred pages less?

It's not like New Frontier doesn't get any love from the DC folks, we're even getting a sweet set of toys, but really, I'd like a nice single collection. I've refrained from buying the current split collection because of moral objections to split collections. Maybe DC has changed their editorial policy since I last badgered them? I sure hope so, I think it's time to start e-mailing them again.

Of course, what I'd really love is an Absolute Hardcover, but I don't hold out hope.

I think what this shows is that Our Worlds at War was a far superior story than New Frontier.

Bet we see an absolute New Frontier before an Absolute Our World At War, at least...

The real crime was splitting OWaW into two volumes and still not finding room for the JSA or Flash specials, which as I understand were the only halfway decent parts to the entire exercise. And then not bothering to collect either in their respective books' trades, either...

The Flash special was still fairly early on in Johns' Flash tenure, where his whole "I fix things" reputation was, I believe, a deserved one, as he seemed to be willing to address continuity things while still writing a story.

How foolish was I to think he would continue writing like that.

Having Cyborg dress up like he used to look to prepare himself for battle?

That's clever.

Having Cyborg dress up like he used to look, then get trapped in that form, then have the yellow sapped out of his costume so that he looks exactly like he did back at the beginning of New Teen Titans?

That's kinda sad.

I'm sure there are many intricate financial reasons why New Frontier hasn't been put into a single trade yet, but the driving reason is probably that DC hates you.

The only parts of OWaW that I read were Jimenez' Wonder Woman issues, which I thought were done well and worked alone in the context of the rest of his run. I also read the Kesel Harley Quinn one-shot since I was reading the series at that time. I don't remember too much about it other than it got Harley from Gotham to Metropolis with Jimmy Olsen, which led to some hilarious later issues in her own series.

I'd been waiting for an absolute edition forever until they announced this at the NYCC

http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=6784

"Bob Wayne denied there would be a sequel to “New Frontier” as Darwyn Cooke is too busy on “The Spirit”, but hinted that there would be an Absolute edition of “New Frontier” and action figures (the latter of which is already available for pre-order). "

& over at newsarama

"When put to the audience for a vote, the room voted overwhelmingly in favor to a New Frontier Absolute Edition (by Darwyn Cooke), which neither Levitz nor Wayne denied would be happening. Wayne also noted that New Frontier action figures were a possibility as well."

the only thing that i found alarming about this was that bob wayne didn't know the action figures were already in production?

DC doesn't hate you! just Joe Quesada/Alan Moore...etc etc.

So, you know about the guy at DC who hates Tadhg too, huh? I never fail to be impressed by how industrious he is.
